Tuesday Trainer Spotlight: Sisters! Akari & Barani Win

September 4, 2018

The Tuesday Trainer Spotlight this week goes to CA sisters, Akari and Barani Win.  They are a few of our wonderful instructors in Silicon Valley.

Barani:

What inspires you to teach fitness or yoga and how did you get started?

Many benefits of exercise motivated me to teach fitness. I started with running track and cross country in high school. Some dance and fitness classes in college got me hooked. I wanted to be in fitness for life. While I taught fitness and ran marathons, I incorporated yoga for some balance and injury prevention.

Favorite Healthy Snack?

Fresh/dried fruits, coco juice

Favorite “treat yo-self” Snack?

Asian desserts, chocolates or ice cream

What are your interests and passion when not teaching fitness/yoga?

Hanging out with my baby, running, taking classes, practicing yoga, doing outdoor adventures, reading, traveling, organizing and trying new things.

What are your hopes for your class participants?

I hope for them to enjoy, exercise outside classes, continue for more growth, practice mindfulness and find their true selves to serve others better.

What is unique or special about teaching in a workplace environment?

Corporate classes are limited, with small crowds and professional members. Quantumscape staff seem friendly, helpful and get along well!

Inspired by my sister Barani, yoga was definitely love at first try for me. Thankfully, my yoga journey brought a much-needed balance into my life during my pediatric pharmacy residency at Stanford.

I have been enjoying life to the fullest by staying fit and healthy in mind and body and helping others savor health and fitness as well.

Tropical fruits, Asian desserts & non-alcoholic drinks, dark chocolate

To have fun and find the steadiness and ease in the midst of discomfort on and off the yoga mat

What is unique or special about teaching in a workplace environment?

Cultivating mindfulness and inner peace in a workplace setting is especially rewarding. It's an essential skill we can apply anywhere, anytime to find equanimity and freedom.
